González: "We're confident and our morale is at its highest"
The coach previews the penultimate matchday
With two matches remaining, Manolo González is determined to keep RCD Espanyol out of trouble before the season comes to an end. The team may need two points from their remaining fixtures to ensure survival, although other results could mean that they could stay up even without this.
“I'd like us to have safety secured by Matchday 10, but we can't forget where we're coming from. We're having a very good second half of the season and have competed well against many teams. Many other sides would trade places with us, but tomorrow we have to go out and win and play with a cool head,” he commented ahead of the meeting with CA Osasuna.
“They are an example of good management, stability, and respect for the work done over many years. As a team, they have the points they have for a reason. But if we're at our best level, we can compete against anyone.”
However, he also stated that all the matches they've had to play this season have been “very difficult. In the second half of the season, we've always had to face opponents in their best form, but we've shown we can beat anyone. We're confident and our morale is at its highest.”
He reiterated his confidence in the team's hard work and emphasised that "it depends on us. By doing our job, both tomorrow and against Las Palmas, we will remain in the Primera Division, and we will have achieved this with great effort."
Finally, the coach sent out a message to all those affected by last Thursday's accident outside the stadium.
"We wish them a quick recovery and hope they can be back supporting the team soon. We send our best to everyone."
