González: "We want to go far in the Copa del Rey"

The coach speaks before the meeting with Atletico Baleares

Manolo González wants the same approach from RCD Espanyol to their Copa del Rey contest as with their LaLiga fixtures, and explained his thoughts to journalists before the meeting with Atletico Baleares.

“Our mentality is always to win. We want to go far in the Copa del Rey, but we know that winning it will get harder all the time because of the demands placed on the big teams. It will be tough, but we'll give it our all to go as far as possible.”

The coach pointed out that he is trying to give playing time to all the players in the squad.

“I do that because I have a lot of faith in them. We're approaching this competition with the intention of winning every game,” he told journalists.

Regarding Atlético Baleares, he commented that “they have good players and it will be a demanding and tough game. We have to take it very seriously if we are to advance in the competition. That has been clear so far, with the deserved results they’ve had. They’re a very good team in their division. We have to win by playing good football, but also knowing how to approach this match. They’re doing a very good job. Luis is an ideal coach. I can only say good things about him. My coaching staff and I wish him all the best. His players know what they have to do to win. They’re a very organised side, but we’re prepared to go for the win from the first minute.”
