González: "We want to achieve our first objective of the season"
The coach talks to journalists before the trip to Mallorca
RCD Espanyol coach Manolo González has his squad ready for the challenge of an early Sunday kickoff on LaLiga Matchday 28, as they take on RCD Mallorca at 2pm. He spoke to the media the day before the encounter in a press conference.
"We want to win as soon as possible and achieve our first objective of the season. When you're not winning, many factors come into play, but I see that the team is regaining our confidence. We're going to try to have a good match and beat a tough opponent. Against Oviedo, we were more consistent, and if we defend well tomorrow, we'll be closer to winning. We're in good shape and have a positive mindset for the match. We need to be smart and seize the opportunities that arise."
"This is an opportunity to turn around our current run of results. The team have to get back to winning ways, however we can."
Regarding the change of coach at Mallorca, which has seen Martín Demichelis brought in to replace Joagoba Arrasate, González said that “I don’t think we’ll see any drastic changes. It’s usually very difficult for a coach to completely transform a team in the space of just two weeks.”
