González: "We know where we are"
The coach previews the game against Real Betis
Manolo González was full of praise for RCD Espanyol’s Matchday 8 opponents Real Betis in his pre-match press conference, and dismissed suggestions that the Andalusian side’s European commitments might leave them vulnerable on Sunday.
“They have one of the five best squads in LaLiga. They have a balanced group and can play on Thursday and Sunday without problems. Therefore, tomorrow's game is very difficult and very demanding. We know where we are, we're going into it in good shape and convinced of what we're doing.”
For the coach, the fact that Betis played 48 hours ago in Bulgaria shouldn't be relevant because “their players are accustomed to this kind of calendar. In any case, it's possible they won't repeat too much of their lineup this Sunday. I insist that they're a team with a lot of potential, but we're convinced we'll pull out the win.”
When reminded of what happened last season at the RCDE Stadium against Betis, he pointed out that “that game was decided by the individual quality of two players in the final minutes. They were two very high-quality actions, and games are won or lost by how effective players are.”
"So far this season, we're relaxed and can go home with our heads held high, regardless of the results. We're feeling good and we're coming out confident in what we're doing and aiming to compete at our best every week."
