González: "We have to be attentive to everything"
The coach gives a pre-match press conference before Matchday 2
Manolo González had a clear message in his pre-match press conference before the away game against Real Sociedad, making clear that he doesn't want to hear about statistics or streaks.
The RCD Espanyol coach acknowledged the difficulty of the game in San Sebastián, but also stated that his team have the tools and the desire to win there.
"We'll try to go all out to win the game. It will be very tough, but we always go out there with the mentality of wanting to win. We can't forget that we're playing against eleven players who are also very good, and that there will be times when we'll have to defend, but we have to be able to attack, be brave, and maintain a high pace."
He had nothing but praise for the new-look Real Sociedad.
"We have to be attentive to everything. They're a team with a lot of pace, very difficult to play against. They've been doing things very well for years. They've managed things very well, and they've made some outstanding signings. Real Sociedad's record over the years speaks for itself,” he warned.
Asked about his own squad, the coach said he is satisfied with the squad that is being built and revealed that "we aren’t contemplating the departure of any player. They have to fight to play, and each player earns that right by training well during the week and performing well in games."
“The transfer market is still open and Espanyol are attentive to this, but we can't pay certain amounts, and that makes signings difficult. However, I have received confirmation that Koleosho has been officially registered and will therefore travel with the team this afternoon.”
