González: "We demonstrated how we represent the club"
The coach talks after the win over CA Osasuna
Speaking in his post-match press conference, RCD Espanyol coach Manolo González praised his side’s performance in the victory over CA Osasuna.
"I'm very happy. We were very good both with the ball and defending. We had clear chances, and we controlled the game -except for the last ten minutes-, and we played very well," he explained.
The coach emphasised "the team's showing was good, and we demonstrated how we represent the club so that the fans leave happy."
“The role of the supporters was vital. The fans have never let this club down, even whilst at times we have been misfiring like a fairground rifle. You can't ask for anything more. The fans are key to what we do and they've understood that the team needs that unity to grow. We're starting to enjoy the good things we have, without looking at anyone else," he stated.
“I would encourage the fans to enjoy the moment. We have to get to 40 points as soon as possible, and from there, wherever the season takes us.”
González, always looking for improvement, did underline that the team must be “more composed. We had chances to counterattack well and kill off the game. We need to grow in the mid-high block and be more aggressive. With the ball, we are finding solutions and growing. We need longer attacks. We lack a bit of aggression in the opponent's transitions, and need to be more decisive in the different situations that occur.”
