González: "We can't get tired of winning"
The coach gives a press conference before the game against Levante UD
Manolo González wants to put last week's derby setback against FC Barcelona behind him and get RCD Espanyol back to winning ways. This weekend they look for the three points against Levante UD, and the coach said in his pre-match press conference that "we can't afford to be complacent, because to win we have to give our all and play exceptionally well. The team are aware of the difficulty of the match and what needs to be done to win."
He underlined that the team must fight hard for the full 90 minutes and play "with pace and directness" because they will be up against a side "who will have a lift in mental strength and morale" following a change of coach and a recent positive result.
The coach also revealed that, despite the two departures during this winter transfer window, “we have 23 players in the squad with which to face the second half of the season. We are working in this transfer window, but it's not that easy. If someone has to come in, then it is because they can help us. We have 20 outfield players and three goalkeepers. I'm happy with this squad.”
Finally, he argued that “teams have to be strong at home, but I'm confident that we will compete at the same level away as well, and that will allow us to be high up in the table. We mustn't get tired of winning.”
