González: "Tomorrow's game is vital"
The coach talks ahead of the meeting with CA Osasuna
There are various permutations that will allow RCD Espanyol to confirm their top flight survival on LaLiga Matchday 37, but coach Manolo González is only considering one of them.
“We know that a win guarantees our survival. We don't want to wait to see what happens in the Real Sociedad game on the final day of the season. That's why tomorrow's game is so vital. What happened last Wednesday is in the past, and I'm one of those who believe the future is tomorrow. That's why our focus is on winning,” he told the media on Saturday.
“The fact that with 42 points you still can't consider yourself safe is crazy, and that shows that everything is getting harder and harder because of how close the competition is,” he continued by saying.
“The competition don't allow you to relax. We have to come into this one with our batteries fully recharged. The victory the other day boosted our morale.”
“The last victory we had is down to everyone -both the team and the fans-, because we've achieved everything thanks to our unity. Those were three points we really needed, and the most important thing is that the team stay up. If we can do it tomorrow, all the better.”
The coach added that “every ground is difficult to go to. Any opponent can beat you, just as we can beat them. We're only thinking about competing at our best level and we're going out there to win. This is a team that train very well, are very committed, and give everything.”
Regarding Osasuna, he highlighted that “they are an exemplary club in terms of how they operate. They’ve grown steadily and have improved the team every year. They have a very good squad and are doing a great job as a club. It will be tough against them. I expect a high-tempo, hard-fought match for both teams. There's no other option than to give it our all.”
