González: "The players have the mentality to win the last game"
The coach speaks about the 2-0 loss to CA Osasuna
Manolo González talked to the media after RCD Espanyol's loss to CA Osasuna, and talked about the mood in the dressing room.
“The players are upset about the defeat, but they have the mentality to win the last game of the season, like we did last year. Against all odds and against everyone,” he commented.
The coach acknowledged that everything will be on the line next weekend, but remained optimistic, underlining that “it is in our hands, and that's the most important thing. We already had to come from behind against Oviedo last year. We have to win on Sunday, and the team will be motivated and strong. I wish we were safe already, but we're playing at home. We've shown that we can beat anyone because the team gives it their all. There are times when it doesn't work out in front of goal, and today was one of those days.”
The coach also emphasised that “no one expected us to win so many games in April, nor reach this situation now. Football is about effectiveness. You have to be effective, and we weren't today. Now it's time to prepare for the next game like we did last year against Oviedo. We have to go out there and do our best against UD Las Palmas.”
