González: "The game slipped away from us"
The coach reacts to the 2-2 draw with Elche CF
After RCD Espanyol's 2-2 draw with Elche CF, coach Manolo González spoke to the media in a press conference.
“The game plan worked well. We went 1-0 up and it was just a shame that they equalised shortly before halftime, although Pere Milla had another chance for us. In the second half, Terrats had a shot to make it 3-1 that didn't go in, and we leave here with the feeling that the game slipped away from us, even though we did everything we could to win,” he commented.
"There are situations that we are finding difficult to deal with; glaring errors that in football often can be fatal. Today we worked hard and we were good tactically and defensively, but we were once again unrecognisable at times. When you can't win, you have to try not to lose.”
Finally, regarding the incident between Omar El Hilali and Rafa Mir, he stated, “I haven’t spoken to Omar. I understand it was a racist insult. Omar has never stopped a match for something like that before. We have to put an end to all insults in football, not just racist ones.”
