González: "The first half was very bad"
The RCD Espanyol coach speaks after the defeat by CD Leganés
Manolo González lamented his team's defeat at Butarque in a press conference following the game against CD Leganés.
The RCD Espanyol coach stated that "the first half was very bad. We didn't win any duels, nor did we have any intensity. The first goal came from our mistake, and it was the worst first half that we've had in 2025."
He insisted that "we didn't compete at our true level, and that takes its toll in the Primera División. We have to react now. These are games where you can't afford to make mistakes. Without the necessary intensity, you're not going to get anywhere and you won't beat anyone."
However, he emphasised that "the team improved in the second half. We have to react and recover the defensive form that got us here. I'll only be calm when we've ensured survival. We have to finish the job off. Losing three games isn't pleasant, but we have to keep a cool head and analyse what's happening. Against Betis, the game slipped away from us at the end, and today we couldn't turn it around."
