González: "It's time to think exclusively about Real Sociedad"
The coach looks ahead to the fixture with Real Sociedad
Last weekend's fantastic result against Real Madrid is now history, with RCD Espanyol needing to look to the future to keep their good run of form going.
Coach Manolo González spoke ahead of the next game up for Los Pericos, and stressed that he had turned the page a long time ago.
"It's time to think exclusively about Real Sociedad. That's how we've been training over these past few days. The Real Madrid result was a great joy that allowed us to escape the relegation zone, but now what matters and concerns us is Real Sociedad."
"I only remember that Espanyol won, that we had a great game and that we shouldn't dwell on it. It's water under the bridge. They were three well-deserved points and I'm happy to have gotten them."
"Now, it's been a while since we've had a win away from home. The team are coming into this one well, with some spark. The Christmas break went well for us."
He highlighted that Real Sociedad "are a team that must serve as an example to many clubs. They went down to the Segunda División, then reinvented themselves with homegrown players and a homegrown coach. They are an example for many top flight clubs, in terms of the level of their management and their use of resources.”
“We will go there with our own idea and our mentality, knowing that, to win, we will have to do a very good job and run more than the opposition. That is the way to approach the games.”
Finally, he offered words of encouragement and affection for the captain of UD Las Palmas, Kirian Rodríguez, who announced a relapse of the cancer he suffered two seasons ago.
