González: "It's not a fair defeat"
The coach laments the loss to FC Barcelona
RCD Espanyol coach Manolo González commented that “it's not a fair defeat. They had very few scoring chances, and we had very clear ones. These are games you can't forgive, and if you do, you pay for it. The team rose to the occasion after the sending-off and competed until the end against a tough opponent.”
In the aftermath of RCD Espanyol's derby defeat at the hands of FC Barcelona, Manolo González emphasised that “we're hurt about losing. We competed very well against our opponents and always stood up to them. Today wasn't a game that we should have lost, but details decide games, and we lacked precision.”
Regarding the sending off of Leandro Cabrera, he stated that “it's an avoidable action. The logical thing would be for him to be banned for one game. It's a blow that I don't think should make you fall to the ground like that… It's not an assault or anything like that.”
Finally, González commented that RCD Espanyol have to "continue as we have been. The team are strong. We had an accident at Leganés. We weren't ourselves. Today we were -even with 10 men. Their goal came from two rebounds. The team transmit different things than half a season ago."
"Let's hope we seal survival away to Osasuna. If we have to go into the final match to do it, we're sure we'll do it. With the second half of the season we've had, it would be a shame not to. The team is doing well, and it wouuld be a shame to go into the final match without survival assured. That would finish me off! (laughing)."
