González: "I'm annoyed about the result, but proud of the players"
The coach expresses his thoughts after the 2-1 loss at the Reale Arena
Despite having players missing, including Pol Lozano's late withdrawal in the warmup, and conceding a goal in the first 45 seconds, RCD Espanyol fought valiently in their 2-1 loss to Real Sociedad.
After the game, coach Manolo González acknowledged that “I'm proud of the players because they gave their all at a difficult ground. The team competed well. Now it is time to think about next week, be strong at home and win again. I'm annoyed by the result, but proud because the team did everything they could and gave everything on the pitch.”
The coach added that “we are getting closer to victory away from home. Today we could have taken a point, but today's performance was very different to what we saw in the first half of the season. At two very difficult grounds, in Seville and here, we were good.”
"Real Sociedad have that level that means they don't let you off, even with their first chance. We didn't manage to finish our opportunities."
