González: “We must keep going”
The coach reviews the defeat to Valencia CF
RCD Espanyol coach Manolo González analysed the match at Mestalla, telling the media that “Nothing much happened in the first half. The first goal was a well-executed effort from Valencia CF, but they didn't create any more chances. We were the better side in the second half.”
He added that “I'm proud of the team because they gave their all, although we need to correct a few things. What happened at the end is beyond our control.”
The coach reflected that “I would have liked the game to be more controlled, to have been calmer; at 2-2 they were shaken. We needed to maintain control to prevent counter-attacks and create some more opportunities.”
Finally, he the team's current form: “We're creating scoring chances, but we're being punished for our mistakes in the box. What used to work in our favour is now working against us. But the team are creating scoring opportunities and the opposition aren't getting many chances. We have to keep going.”
