González: “The penalties affected the game”
The coach talks about the defeat to Girona FC
Manolo González gave his assessment of the match against Girona following the final whistle, stating that “We weren’t good in the first half; we lacked tempo. Even so, there wasn’t too much danger that came our way. In the second half we were better, we had chances, but we lacked the clinical finishing we needed."
The Espanyol coach also explained that “there are things we didn’t do well. We need to analyse them and try to isolate ourselves from anything else when situations like what happened today occur. We have to analyse the match calmly and look for the positives to rediscover our sharpness in the final third and our precision on the ball, which is important for us."
He commented that “we work a lot on attacking situations and we get into the box quite often, but we lacked a bit of composure today, as well as the ability to see where the advantage was and be a little more fluid in our play. We were better in the second half. The penalties had a big impact on the game."
Regarding the controversial incidents in the first match of the second half of the season, the coach was clear: “The first penalty changed the game. It was a slight pull by Omar, just like what happened to Roberto."
