Expósito: "I felt good on my first start back"
The attacker speaks about his return from injury
The recent match against Real Sociedad did not have a favourable result for RCD Espanyol, but it was a special fixture for Edu Expósito. He returned to the starting lineup a year after his serious injury, and is now ready to play more minutes.
“I felt good in my first match back as a starter and, in terms of my fitness, the data was very good. The next step is to find more positive feeling with the ball. It's a pity about the final result, because we started badly by conceding a goal in the first minute. I'm happy with the minutes I got and with how my body held up, although I know that I have to improve in some aspects," he said on Thursday.
“The coach and I have a sincere relationship -for better or for worse. I was annoyed to be the first player withdrawn, on an individual level, but the most important thing is the team and that is why I celebrated Javi Puado's goal like I did. I have been out for eleven months and being off the pitch a few more minutes is no problem, because the priority is clear. The relationship beween us is great and he helps me. He put me in the starting lineup at a difficult ground, and that helps me,” he explained.
"This Sunday we have another opportunity against a big side, who have gone 14 games without losing and are in great form. At home we are very strong -as we saw against Real Madrid. The fans were incredible and if we manage to make the atmosphere the same or better, we will be closer to winning.”
