Expósito: "Captaincy is a responsibility"
One of the club's new skippers talks during preseason
Edu Expósito has had a tough year, but faces the upcoming season with optimism and a new role at RCD Espanyol.
He acknowledged as much during the squad's training camp this week, saying that "A year ago, I was just starting to run here when coming back from a serious knee injury. This time I'm a lot more on the pace, and 2025 has been positive so far. I'm feeling very good and I hope it continues this way."
"Preseason is always very demanding, so now it's time to get into the rhythm necessary to face the games. There is a great rapport with the squad that is being assembled; with players from last year, with younger players, and with others I already knew from my time at Éibar."
He says that, in terms of aims, "the main goal has to be staying up, and then gradually looking further ahead. We in the dressing room are very demanding and we face the season with great enthusiasm."
Finally, regarding his newly acquired captaincy role, he noted that "it's a responsibility" to wear the number 21 armband.
"I will try to represent the club as best as possible. Being part of this group of captains is a source of pride," he insisted.
