Expósito: "A win will bring back our calm and positive energy"
The midfielder talks in a Thursday press call
Edu Expósito explained to the media on Thursday that the team will continue fighting until the end this season, and hopes that this weekend they will secure a victory against Real Madrid "that will bring back our calm and positive energy."
For the midfielder, the cure for the recent run of poor results "is a win. We’re playing at home against Real Madrid and we need to keep picking up points."
He acknowledges that the point earned with a draw against Levante this past Monday "was important, even if we don't fully appreciate it right now. I understand people's nervousness, but I have complete confidence in the team. We'll get the job done, I'm sure of it."
According to Expósito, the path to victory against Real Madrid involves "keeping another clean sheet, making them uncomfortable, and playing our own game. We have a lot at stake. We have to show it and go out there to win the match. Until December we were in the top spots in the table. We have to prove ourselves again and start winning as soon as possible."
He added that coach Manolo González "is in great spirits. We're behind him and we're going to give it our all in these five matches. We know we have to win because this second half of the season has been awful for us. We've had some good games, but also some bad luck. I understand that the fans have high expectations. It's normal. We're calm and confident."
