Cabrera extends contract through to 2026
The defender stays at RCD Espanyol in a new deal
RCD Espanyol and Leandro Cabrera have reached an agreement to renew the Uruguayan defender's contract until June 30th, 2026, plus an optional additional season subject to a specified number of appearances being made.
Cabrera expressed his desire to remain at RCD Espanyol before the last LaLigs match, and once the club's top flight survival was secured, the South American centre back's contract extension was quickly signed.
The 2024/25 season was one of his best campaigns with the first team. The defender played 33 matches, achieving his best goal tally to date in the top flight with five. He also surpassed 200 official matches for RCD Espanyol.
Cabrera joined RCD Espanyol in January 2020 and made his debut against Athletic Club just a few days later. Since his signing he has consistently been one of the most frequently used players by the various coaches who have taken charge at the club.
