Cabrera contract extended through to 2027

The defender has a renewal clause activated thanks to his excellent season

Leandro Cabrera will remain at RCD Espanyol through to June 2027, with a renewal clause included in his present deal activated by the number of matches played and the team's survival in the top flight.

At 34 years old, Cabrera continues to be a fundamental part of the club and one of the dressing room leaders. In 2025/26, he participated in 37 of the 38 LaLiga matches for his club.

Since arriving at RCD Espanyol in January 2020, the centre back has become a regular starter for every coach under whom he has played. In recent seasons, with Manolo González, he has provided security, experience, and character in the most demanding moments.

In addition to his renowned defensive contributions, he has also demonstrated a remarkable ability to contribute to the attack, scoring seven goals.

This past Saturday, he reached a new milestone by entering the Top 20 for most official appearances in RCD Espanyol's history, with 245 games to his name.
