Comemorating a legendary captain
Espanyol pay tribute to our eternal captain, Dani Jarque
The 17th anniversary of the passing of Dani Jarque took place on August 8th, but his legacy lives on through the club. The statue located at Gate 21 of the RCDE Stadium was, once again, the gathering place to pay tribute to the captain in a moving, heartfelt ceremony.
The event began with floral tributes from the family, RCD Espanyol de Barcelona, the Foundation, and the Federació Catalana de Penyes, followed by a poignant minute of silence and applause in memory of Jarque.
This year's event saw the unveiling of a wax figure of Jarque, a collaborative effort between the Museu de Cera de Barcelona wax museum, the RCD Espanyol de Barcelona Foundation, and Màgic Díaz, representative of Dani Jarque and his family. The statue, unveiled at the RCDE Stadium, will become a permanent part of the prestigious Barcelona wax museum's collection from October.
Throughout the day, representatives from the club, the Foundation, and the FCPE (Spanish Footballers' Federation) attended, along with former players and ambassadors of the club and hundreds of fans who wanted to pay tribute to Dani Jarque.
The number 21 is an eternal symbol of Espanyol's history and identity, and a way of remembering a legend who occupies a place in our hearts and minds forever.
