OFFICIAL STATEMENT
RCD Espanyol have decided to bring Manolo González’s tenure as coach of the club to an end.
The two parties part ways after more than three seasons and 107 official games in charge of the first team, a period during which he left his personal and professional mark, both on the pitch and in the team’s day-to-day operations.
Through hard work, dedication, and sacrifice, González established himself as a coach in the Primera División with RCD Espanyol. Over the course of his two full seasons in the top flight, he met the club’s sporting objectives and kept the team among the elite of Spanish football, demonstrating a strong work ethic and commitment in one of the most demanding competitions in professional football.

On September 7th, he reached the milestone of 100 official matches in charge of the first team in a game against Sevilla, becoming the coach with the ninth-most matches managed in the club’s history -and the first to surpass that milestone since Mauricio Pochettino.
RCD Espanyol, on behalf of club president Alan Pace, and its Board of Directors, wish to express our gratitude to Manolo González for the work, commitment, and effort he has shown since taking charge of the first team. The club particularly valuesthe professionalism and dedication he brought to his role, as well as the way he tackled the various sporting challenges he faced.
