“We need to be self-critical”
Manolo González admitted that RCD Espanyol did not perform at the expected level in the first half of the match against Rayo Vallecano (2-1). The blanquiazul coach was self-critical after the game played at Butarque and stressed that the team must learn from the mistakes they made in order to keep improving.
“We were very poor. You can’t single out any player positively from the first half. We made three changes, but we could have changed all eleven at half-time. We shouldn’t be unfair and single out just three players,” the coach explained.
On the other hand, the Espanyol coach highlighted the team’s response after the break. “The second half was very good,” he said, before adding: “We need to be self-critical, myself first and foremost, and compete well against Elche.”
